Justin Vandergrift

My interest in the futures markets began in high school. While in college I read and studied as many books as possible on futures and options trading trying to find the 'edge' in my personal trading. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, I started with John Hill's Futures Truth Company and Commodity Research Institute. Futures Truth was a company who would independently review and evaluate trading systems so investors could get an unbiased statement on their profit and loss. While with Futures Truth I studied as many commodity-trading systems I could. I saw first hand what works in the markets and what does not. In 1997 I started the futures brokerage firm as a sole proprietor. In 2003 Chadwick Investment Group Inc was registered as an Introducting Broker and in 2006 we registered as a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA).

Like many other traders, I began writing system code in Omega Research's products (Super Charts, Tradestation). My own system's research lead me to trend following. Trend Following systems worked best over time. I could get some short term systems to work periodically, but no other system beat the consistent performance of any long-term model. The programs that we offer now are the results of research on Trend Following going back more than a decade.
